The Magic Violin

The Magic Violin - Once, there lived a landlord who loved money very much. He hired a young man named John. He forced John to work all day long. But he gave him little money. So, John went away angrily.

One day, John met a poor old lady. He gave her all money. The old lady thanked him and asked, ''What's your favorite, John?'' asked the old lady. ''I like violin very much.'' John answered. So the old lady took
out a violin from her back and gave it to him. John went forward. He met a man who was cutting the wood. The man said, ''If you can help me, I'll give you some money.'' John agreed.

When John finished the work, the man didn't give him the money. While John was playing the violin, the man couldn't help dancing. The rhythm of the sound became quicker and quicker, and the man was very tired.
He begged, ''Please stop. I'll give you money.'' John got the money and left happily.

He understood the violin was not a common violin. It was a magic violin. So, he decided to give the landlord a lesson. He came to the landlord's home and asked him to return his money. The landlord refused. So, John played the violin. Hearing the sound, the landlord danced. John played the violin faster and faster, and the landlord danced faster and faster, too. At last, he couldn't bear. He cried, ''Help..! Help..! I'll give you the money. Stop playing the violin.''

John didn't stop playing until the landlord gave him much money.

Finally, John distributed the money to the poor. (from Buku B. Inggris untuk SMA/MA kelas XII)
